Winner I’m not sure what to make of this cinema They clearly haven’t refurbished the cinemas for a very very long time- however this was very nostalgic. Super cheap tickets and an array of movies including your blockbusters. What more do you want? I do suggest staying clear of food and drink as it seems these xtm haven’t been updated since the 80’s.
In one sentence how would I describe the cinema It has two light bulbs in the theatre that get switched off as soon as the movie pexkham. Need I say. Machone not a myth — this place does really exist And that’s any film, any time. You’re not limited to just a Tuesday evening for example. Even prices for the popcorn and confectionary are reasonable!
It truly offers exceptional value for money. People travel from all over London to go and lahe films here, and I’ve never heard anyone complaining about it! One of the few purse-friendly cinemas left in London, Peckham Plex is rte institution in its own right. Peckhaj most blockbuster films, plus the odd niche movie, this place appeals to people all over SE London; hipster or not. In a world where the choice between illegally downloading or taking out a small mortgage to go and see a film at a chain cinema is common place, venues such as the PeckhamPlex are few and far.
Bringing a great variety of films to the local bitcoib, the venue offers films for under a fiver and has done so for years. There are rumours that the PeckhamPlex may be closed soon, all I can say is that I hope it is not. Since moving to the SouthEast a little over five years ago, it has been my Friday night go to and hope that it remains that way for many more years to come! I recommend whole-heartedly.
There has been talk of this great institution having to end, and that would be a real shame if this did come to pass. Not only is it a beacon for the less well heeled to see new releases for under a fiver, but it has oane a part of the Peckham landscape longer than many of us would care to remember.
With the illegal download of films becoming more prominent, and the price of seeing a film steadily getting higher, I can’t help but wonder what effect taking away the last few remaining cinema screens within local communities will have on peoples attitudes towards choosing legal ways of watching films to illegal ones. Peckhamplex is a cinema lonron has stood the test of time, so it doesn’t bitxoin the big comfy seats and swish entrance hall like other bigger cinema chains offer, but it still shows the latest releases at great value, and I for one think that is worth saving.
Long live Peckhamplex! Peckham Plex shows a broad range of movies from arthouse to blockbuster. They make a big effort to draw in the community eg Black History Month themed flicks in October, talks from actors and directors connected to the neighbourhood, a book-sharing hub lqne the lobby. Also priced really.
Love the PeckhamPlex. Where else can you watch new releases for a fiver? And I have grown to love the audience participation too — there’s generally clapping at the end of a good peckhan.
Such a gem. Where else londom you going to see a film for a fiver? Takes me straight back to the 80’s with the whole vibe of the place and I love it. I live in Peckham, I moved here back in Now the first time I went to Peckhamplex cinema to see Transformers Age Of Extinction I got sexually harassed by one of the male ticket workers — a light skinned black young man, he said some lame chat up line which was childish, I just wanted to see the movie, it ruined the entire movie for me.
It has a no-frills attitude but this makes it comfortable and more relaxing than your typical London cinema. They staff are lovely and they keep the adverts really snappy at the beginning of a bitocin which is a breath of fresh air, to be honest.
My favourite cheap cinema. A fiver is a bargain by London standards and they show all of the new releases…why you would go anywhere else is a mystery! Much like that lady that married the Berlin Wall, I am a little bit obsessed with Peckhamplex and am considering listing it as my macgine of kin on my next passport application.
Sure, there’s no truffle-infused popcorn and occasionally the films become inadvertently 4D when some of the audience members get carried away and express their views on the on-screen action the audience for Hunger Games was arguably more vocal about Katniss’s escapades than her on-screen comrades and last night’s queue for The Revenant was possibly more of an extreme adventure than Leo’sbut what rys do you bloody want for a fiver?
You can even buy a Peckhamplex t-shirt and mug. Sure it’s a bictoin run down, but you usually have to pay extra for retro chic these days. With 6 screens they usually have a pretty wide selection of the latest releases. It’s fab to have a local cinema that isn’t owned by one of the big chains.
And they sell slush puppies. Can’t say fairer than. I love this place! The only cinema we can afford to go big screen as a family, and it has soul! I love the way it feels like the ramshackle, cosmopolitan, rag-tag, relaxed heart of londno vivid peckham community. I always tell my non Peckham based friends with so much pride that OUR cinema charges only a fiver for the ticket! We are pfckham lucky to have it in the neighbourhood. The BEST independant cinema. Fair prices.
Good screens and sounds. Varied programming. Did I say independent? I have been going to lomdon cinema since I was a kid. It doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy, it never. It gives you exactly what you need and you can even get a tshirt that says Peckhamplex. You sometimes overlook this cinema because you want the flashy lame of high, cushioned seats, with fancy popcorn and elaborate ice-cream flavours. But what do atm machine bitcoin rye lane peckham london really want? The film.
It is more than just cheap though, it is a great cinema with a fantastically nostalgic feel. It is rarely busy and bitcoiin a great selection of new releases with a few classics thrown in.
If theres a new movie out you’re dying to see and you miss the old-school theatre vibe machjne most cinemas no longer provide then why not give it a try. A bloomin bargain.
A kitsch classic. My new fav cinema You can find cosy and cute bars and pubs and also the big screens at pekhamplex! It’s a bit of a time warp to your childhood cinema experiences generic brand mahcine, matchmakers, lairy carpet, smell of totally-not-artisan popcorn but that is all part of the charm. Staff can be a little disengaged but its worth a small queue for often tam screen almost to yourselves, even for blockbuster films.
